CENTRAL FLOATING. European Union has decided to grant € 72 million to assist in the implementation of the NEMO project, "New Energies for Martinique and Overseas".

Using the difference in temperature between the surface and deep layers

NEMO is a floating center operator thermal energy conversion (OTEC). Built by DCNS (former head of shipbuilding in Cherbourg) and the project developer Akuo Energy , the power plant of 16 MW will provide the needs of 35,000 homes. It will be located seven kilometers off the city of Bellefontaine on the east coast of the island and will be operational in 2018 With a little help from Europe will help financially cover the first five years of operation.
